Safety desk

Before the benefits, check the risks

“Natural” does not mean interaction-free. Use this checklist before a supplement enters your routine.

01

Medication context

Ginkgo and other ingredients may be inappropriate with blood thinners, seizure medicines or other prescriptions.

02

Surgery

Share every supplement with your surgical team. Some products may need to be stopped in advance.

03

Pregnancy

Do not assume a brain formula is appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

04

Stop rules

Stop and seek help for allergic symptoms, severe headache, unusual bleeding, marked mood change or other concerning effects.

Do not delay evaluation

New or worsening memory change, sudden confusion, weakness, speech difficulty or other neurological symptoms need prompt professional assessment.

Supplements are not pre-approved like drugs

The FDA does not approve dietary supplements for effectiveness before sale. Claims must still be truthful and cannot legally market a supplement as a disease treatment.
